FEQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We can start at the nearest available opening in our schedule. Planning takes time so we recommend you contact us as soon as you know when you can be potentially ready to start. This way, we will work out all the design and material elements ensuring that we will be ready by our anticipated start date.

The completion time depends on the size, scale and level of detail incorporated into the design. Weather is also a factor for all outdoor projects. Ask your designer/estimator for details.

Always check with your local building division office to make sure the proper procedures are followed. Decks under 24″ above grade and standard yard fencing do not require a permit in the City of London.  Pool fencing and decks 24″ above grade do.  Other projects depend on the scope of work.

Yes you do but we look after this for you as a courtesy.  It is a free service that usually takes between 7 and 10 days for the service locate to be completed.

We have full liability insurance and WSIB coverage for our employees which protects them for the duration of the project.

We gladly provide a 2 year standard warranty for workmanship and offer the manufacturers warranty for all products used on the job.  We DO NOT warranty ANY project that is damaged by weather, carelessness, unforeseen circumstances or acts of God.

Stairs/Steps

  • Instantly create a focal point or feature that welcomes visitors while also defining areas of the deck

Railings

  • Select a deck railing style that is safe and looks good (available in wood, composite, metal and glass). Check local codes for proper height and installation details.

Benches/Planters

  • Use these on your deck to add some colour and functionality. It is also a great way to break up long sections of railing.

Arbour/Pergola

  • Provides a beautiful canopy of shade for a seating area and can define specific spaces in your yard and on your deck.

Shutters/Privacy screens

  • Add additional privacy and shade to your deck or yard with shutter systems and privacy screens.

Lighting

  • Use splashes of low voltage lighting in select areas of your deck design for elegance and safety.

There are a variety of fence styles to choose from.

Post Size:

There are a few standard post sizes that are typically used:

  • 4″x4″  
  • 6″x6″

Fence Height:

  • In the City of London fences can be erected from three feet to seven feet high. Choose a height that suits the purpose of the fence.

Property Lines:

  • Making sure that property lines are located will ensure that the fence is built in the correct location and will prevent disputes with surrounding property owners.

Neighbours:

  • Although it is not necessary, being courteous to neighbours and letting them know about the project is always a good thing to do. It may be a possible to save money this way and split the costs of the project.

Preferences

  • Knowing what design elements to incorporate into the project mostly depend on the preferences of the client. Keeping a folder or bookmarks of ideas will greatly help decision making during the design process.

Selecting complimentary materials will create harmony and a beautiful looking finished product.When it comes to renovations we will cater to the preferences of the individual and their respective taste.  We will gladly assist in the selection process.

Maintenance

  • It is always important to maintain and take proper care of whatever is built. There is no such thing as “maintenance  free”, so be sure to look after any finished product to prolong its life and enjoyment.

Plan Ahead

  • The design and planning process does take time so allow enough to collect and gather ideas before the design stage  begins. This will save time and ensure that things go smoothly.

Schedule

  • Perimeter Contracting performs large scale renovation projects in the late fall and winter months. Smaller projects can be scheduled anytime throughout the year.
